About Dick Stanton

I started my artistic journey in high school, where I learned the basic elements of design and composition. After graduation I then served my country in the navy for four years, and continued my artistic journey when the GI Bill made it possible for me to attend Meinzinger’s art school in Detroit.  There I studied color, design, composition and perspective.  More recently, I completed a course in air brushing at Lansing Community College.

My artistic talents have encompassed 40 years in visual display and arts with the J. L. Hudson Company, Winkelman Brothers and numerous freelance positions.  I retired after 30 years in the position of Display Manager for Jacobson’s stores in Jackson, Michigan.

I have a great fondness for working in pen and ink, with the majority of my subjects being homes, lighthouses, businesses and old barns.  I am continually working to add more drawings and new subjects to my already large collection.  I am also proficient in calligraphy and have done a variety of work for the Jackson Symphony Guild, churches, and wedding and other announcements.
